Getting to the Theatre

Accessible Taxi Drop-Off

Visitors with access requirements can be dropped off at Potters Fields, next to the LaLit Hotel. From there, there is an approximately one-minute level-access route to the theatre entrance. 

London Underground

The theatre is located a 10 minute walk from London Bridge tube station which is an accessible station. TFL have more information on accessibility on the underground. 

Blue Badge Accessible Parking

Seating and Access Around the Venue

Step-Free Access

There is level access into the Bridge Theatre foyer.

The platform lift provides access to the Stalls. The Gallery does not have lift access. The lift can carry up to 300KG (4 persons).

The main staircase from the foyer to the Stalls has 21 steps. There are 12 steps up to the Gallery from foyer level.

There is level access to wheelchair spaces within the theatre.

Production specific Physical Accessibility

As the auditorium layout varies between productions, accessibility features and wheelchair locations may differ from one show to another.

Lift Access

Lift facilities are available within the theatre.

Please note:

  • The Stalls can be reached via a platform lift at the back of the foyer (the lift can carry up to 300KG).
  • Once you are in the auditorium there are steps to most seats.
  • The Gallery does not have lift access.

Wheelchair Accessible Seating

Wheelchair accessible seating is available in the Circle. These are found in the central block in Row C, and are located at street level.

The wheelchair spaces and adjacent seats in the central block of Row C are the only step-free seating locations within the Circle 

There will be level access to these seats. 

Wheelchair users who have notified the theatre of their requirements will be able to view and select available wheelchair bays when booking online.

Early Access to the Auditorium

Visitors who would benefit from additional time to enter the auditorium or move around the venue are advised to arrive at least 45 minutes before the performance starts.

Upon arrival, please speak to a member of the Front of House team, who will be happy to assist. 

Accessible Toilets

The Bridge has 2 gender neutral accessible toilets. 

  • Ground Floor (best access from the Circle seating)
  • Lower Foyer (best access from Stalls seating)

Accessibility Facilities - What access equipment is available? 

Hearing Enhancement and Audio Description

The theatre offers a digital radio frequency assisted listening system.

Sennheiser receivers can be used for:

  • Hearing enhancement (Channel 1)
  • Audio description at selected performances (Channel 2) 

Devices are available from the Merchandise Stand and can be used with supplied headphones, induction neck loops, or personal headphones. [bridgetheatre.co.uk]

How to use the device:

  1. Plug in your headphones or induction neck loop.
  2. Select Channel 1 for hearing enhancement or Channel 2 for audio description where available.
  3. Adjust the volume using the control dial. 

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs can be borrowed for use during a visit, subject to availability. Advance arrangements are recommended. 

To arrange for a wheelchair to be available, please email access@bridgetheatre.co.uk or call 0333 320 0051 before your visit. These Wheelchair bays are subject to availability. 

Mobility Scooters

Mobility scooters cannot be charged at the theatre.

Large Print Information

Large print menus are available from the bar or Box Office.

For audio described and captioned performances, large print signage is also available. Visitors with specific requirements are encouraged to contact the theatre in advance.

Access Hosts

The Bridge Theatre has Access Hosts that are happy to support you with any specific needs you may have.

Quiet Space

A quiet space is available for visitors who may benefit from support navigating busy or crowded environments. Please speak to a member of staff on arrival for assistance. 

Reserved Foyer Seating

Seating in the Foyer is unreserved, however if you email the Box Office using access@bridgetheatre.co.uk the team will be able to arrange seating for you. 

Dementia-Friendly Venue

The Bridge Theatre is a Dementia Friendly venue. Many members of staff are trained Dementia Friends and have an awareness and understanding of the condition. Additional support can be arranged if required by emailing access@bridgetheatre.co.uk. 

Multiple Access Requirements

If a booking includes multiple patrons with access requirements and multiple companions, the Box Office can provide assistance with arranging appropriate seating and tickets. You can contact the Box Office team by emailing access@bridgetheatre.co.uk 

Assistance Dogs 

The Bridge Theatre welcomes trained assistance dogs. Please tell us when booking if you plan on bringing them into the auditorium with you so that we can ensure you have an aisle seat.

If you prefer, the front of house team is more than happy to look after your dog, just let the box office team know in advance by emailing access@bridgetheatre.co.uk.

In the case of an emergency, if it is safe to do so, the venue will try to reunite a dog with its owner prior to evacuating the building. If this is not possible, staff will bring your dog to the appropriate assembly point. 

The venue is unable to admit emotional support dogs into the auditorium. 

Information about loud noises, special effects or other production-specific considerations can be requested from the theatre before attending.

Seat Dimensions

All seats have a seat width of 41cm, and a seat depth of 44cm.They have armrests which are 43cm apart and 23cm up from the seat itself. The seats are around 38cm up from the floor. Seats listed as ‘high seats’ are around 56cm up from the floor and have a metal bar to rest your feet on rather than the floor.

Assisted Performances

The theatre offers a range of assisted performances throughout the year, including:

  • Audio described performances
  • Touch tours for blind and visually impaired visitors
  • British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted performances
  • Captioned performances 

For BSL interpreted performances, the interpreter's position is shown on the seating plan. 

For captioned performances, designated seating is available to provide a suitable view of the caption box or boxes. 

The Bridge Theatre aims to offer a touch tour for every audio described production. Attending a touch tour is a chance to visit the set, feel the props, and enhance your enjoyment of the show. The tour is free and lasts about half an hour. 

During Your Visit

Leaving and Re-entering the Auditorium

Late admission policies vary by production and late admission may not always be possible once a performance has begun.

If you have an accessibility requirement that may mean leaving the auditorium during a performance, please speak to a member of staff before the performance starts. Staff will be able to advise on the options available for that production.
